PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Transfer tickets
Tickets for two fare zones can be used 60 minutes from validation. On working days from 08.00 PM to 05.00 AM and on Saturdays and Sundays round the clock such tickets can be used 90 minutes from validation.
For adult persons over 15 years its costs 20 CZK
For children from 6 up to 15 years inclusive it costs 10 CZK
Non-transfer tickets
apply to trams and buses 15 minutes allowing no change. On the Metro such tickets are valid for the distance of 4 stations from the station of validation (not including the station of validation) allowing to change between the lines A,B,C, but no longer than 30 minutes. These tickets do not apply to night routes and funicular railway.
For adult persons over 15 years it costs 14 CZK
For children from 6 up to 15 years inclusive it costs 7 CZK

Travel Information Centres provide all substantial information about public transport operation, routes, timetables, etc. Information is provided in Czech, English, German and Russian, and that also by phone. If you visit some of the bellow mentioned Travel Information Centres you can buy e.g. the following: timetables of tram and bus services (from any stop you like) map of Prague with PT network information chart of PT network timetables of night tram and bus services publications dealing with the history and the present of public transport in Prague.
CURRENCY
Czech republic became a member of European Union in May 2004 but it will take few more years when EUR will be a valid currency in our country. At the moment the valid currecny is the CZECH CROWN.



CREDIT CARDS
It is not a problem at all to use it, it is acceptable nearly in every restaurant, shopping centre, tourist centers, bars and pubs, pensions and hotels.
ATM machines
In the city centrum you can find them nearly on every corner, in the undergrounds, at the banks and in the shopping centres.
CHANGE
In the city centrum you can find plenty of them but be careful, because the most of them charge an extra comission intead of they they present that there is not comission. CULTURE

Prague is the European center of culture. You can enjoy the best music and theater performances there. Some of them are listed below. If it is your first visit to Prague you should not miss to listen some classical music concert in Rudolfinum or Municipal House, to visit State Opera and to see some black light theater performance.
Remember Prague is a part of the cultural and conservative Europe. So, you are not supposed to eat or drink during the theater performance and classical music concert (even no pop corn nor coke). We know it is assertive to do this but it is really impolite. If you feel hungry, feed up yourself before going there, please
OPERA AND BALLET
There are a couple of opera or ballet performances every night in Prague. The best known performances are held by Prague State Opera and by the Prague National Theatre Opera at three beautiful opera houses. Opera performances are usually sung in the original language with subtitles (English ones with Czech operas and Czech ones with all the others). English program brochures are always available. Formerly the German Theatre is the most beautiful opera house in Prague. Precious monument of the Czech history is full of paintings and pieces of art. Theatre of the Estates, Ovocny trh
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart himself conducted the world premiere of his Don Giovanni in this building in 1787. Now it presents either Don Giovanni, Le Nozze di Figaro, The Magic Flute, Nagano (Smolka), Ilsea's Heart (Karel), ballets Bolero, Lucky Seven, Family Album, Miniatures at 7 pm
CLASICAL MUSIC
Prague is gorgeous place for classical music lovers. You can enjoy a half dozen concerts every evening there. They are held either in the historic concert halls or in churches. Find the schedule at any visitor center or get the invitation just from the concert-agent on the street . You should not miss to visit some of the most famous concert places:

Prague Spring Festival
This traditional Classical Music Festival is the best known annual cultural event. It begins every year on May 12, the anniversary of Smetana's death, and it runs till June 3. If you are classical music fan you really should not miss it.
Prague Autumn Festival
This young Classical Music Festival is held in Prague's concert halls in the second part of September. This year it is opening on September 12 and will run till October 3. You can enjoy there the most famous orchestras from the whole world. Get the tickets from any ticket counter listed below or in the Rudolfinum Concert Hall.
THEATRES
There are about 20 theatres in Prague with performances mostly in Czech language. Foreigners can enjoy black light theater or marionette theater performances every evening.
